Bishop Meals!

About This Site

This site started as a solution to a very real problem: we kept forgetting about meals / foods we used to make and love.

Over time, meals that we liked just faded out of rotation. Suddenly we’d we remember one and think, “Why did we ever stop making this?” So I wanted a way to bring them occassionally back by saying:

“Give me 7 random meals so we can plan groceries.” (this includes sometimes just planning to order Thai or pizza!)

So, that's the thinking that got this started.

What It Does Now

It has now grown into the idea of a library where you can:

A Rose Site by Any Other Name

This is a bit of a “multiple personality” site.

Originally, it was meant to randomly generate meal suggestions … but at this point it also includes desserts, drinks, etc. So "meals” might not be the perfect name anymore—but that was the original idea, and everything else just kind of… joined the party.

Shared with Friends

After showing this to a friend (who got a bit excited about it), I added the ability for others to contribute.
Maybe they'd find it useful ... Maybe we'd be able to get ideas from each other!

So, you can tag who added a meal, which lets you:

Important Notes (a.k.a. This Is Not a Startup)

Think of this more like a shared notebook than a polished app.

How to Use This

Getting Started Idea

After just adding a bunch of "meal ideas" (i.e. "hot dogs" or "go for pizza"), we went through our physical recipe box, took pictures, and uploaded them.

Accidental Benefit

At the grocery store, we retrieved a recipe to see "how much" picante sauce to buy :)

A Quick Note on Images

On your phone, you can "Squeeze and Pull" to make the images larger.
On a tablet/laptop, I'm still working on the ability to resize the images properly -- for now, you can right click and "open in a new tab" (at least on Windows -- I'm not a mac person haha

Why This Exists

The goal is simple:

If it helps answer “what should we eat this week?”, then it’s doing its job.
